Healthy lawn and hedge border maintained by GardenScaping in Brighton

Garden Maintenance

Lawn Care & Mowing

Regular mowing and edging, plus the feeding, weeding and renovation that keeps a lawn thick and green through a Melbourne summer.

A thicker, greener, healthier lawn

A great lawn comes from doing the right things at the right time of year: mowing at the correct height, feeding as growth starts, and fixing problems like weeds, compaction and dry patches before they spread.

We look after lawns as part of regular garden maintenance, and install new turf when an old lawn is past saving. We work with the common Melbourne lawn types, including soft-leaf Buffalo, Couch, Kikuyu, Zoysia and Tall Fescue.

How it works

Our Process

  1. Diagnose

We identify your grass type and what’s holding it back - shade, compaction, weeds, mowing height or dry patches.

  2. Plan the year

Mowing frequency, feeding, weed control and renovation are scheduled around the seasons and your lawn type.

  3. Regular care

Our team mows, edges and treats on schedule, and flags anything that needs attention before it becomes a bigger job.

Lawns across the South East

Bayside

Sandy soils drain fast and can become water-repellent. Wetting agents and deeper, less frequent watering make a big difference.

Bayside services

Boroondara

Heavier clay compacts easily, and big established trees cast shade. Aeration helps, and shade-tolerant grasses like soft-leaf Buffalo or Tall Fescue perform best.

Stonnington & Glen Eira

Formal front lawns need consistent feeding and sharp edges to look their best alongside hedges and paths.

I've had Joe and his team over to my property twice now, and both times they've done an outstanding job. They worked efficiently, left everything spotless, and most importantly, really listened to what I was after. The work was done to a high standard, and their pricing was very fair for the quality of service provided. If you're looking for a reliable, professional, and genuinely skilled gardening team, I'd highly recommend Joe.

FAQ

Lawn Care FAQs

How often should my lawn be mowed?
In the main growing season (spring to early autumn), most Melbourne lawns need mowing every one to two weeks. Growth slows right down in winter, so mowing can drop back to every few weeks.
What is the best lawn for shade in Melbourne?
Soft-leaf Buffalo and Tall Fescue handle shade best. Couch and Kikuyu need plenty of sun and tend to thin out under trees.
When should I fertilise my lawn?
Early to mid spring as growth starts, and again in autumn. Avoid feeding in the heat of summer.
Can you lay new turf?
Yes. We prepare the soil and install new turf such as Buffalo or Couch. Warm-season turf is best laid from spring to early autumn so it roots in quickly.
