Paving & Stonework
Patios, paths and entertaining areas in bluestone, granite, travertine and more - laid on a solid base with falls that carry water away from your home.
Paving that stays flat for years
Good paving is mostly what you can’t see. A well-compacted base, correct falls for drainage and solid edge restraint are what stop pavers sinking, rocking or holding puddles years later.
We lay natural stone and paver paving for patios, paths, stepping stones and pool surrounds, including reclaimed materials. In our Carlton North project we laid a circular bluestone crazy-paved patio on a reinforced slab, bluestone steppers, and curved garden edging made from the old bluestone found on site.

Good to know
Choosing a paving material
Bluestone
Victoria’s classic basalt paver. Extremely durable and ideal for period homes; it darkens when wet and gets warm in full sun.
Granite
Very hard-wearing with low porosity, in a range of greys and warm tones. A great all-rounder for high-traffic areas.
Travertine
Light-coloured natural stone that stays cooler underfoot than dark stone, making it popular around pools.
Concrete pavers
Consistent, cost-effective and available in many finishes - a good choice for larger areas on a budget.

FAQ
Paving FAQs
- What is the best paving around a pool?
- Choose a stone with a non-slip finish. Lighter stones such as travertine stay noticeably cooler underfoot than dark stones like bluestone in summer sun.
- How long does a paving project take?
- Smaller paving projects typically take one to two weeks. Larger jobs that include drainage, retaining walls or demolition take longer - we’ll give you a timeline in your quote.
- Can you lay paving over existing concrete?
- Sometimes. If the slab is sound, and levels and drainage allow for the extra height, stone can be laid on top. We’ll assess it and recommend the best option.
- Can you remove old paving?
- Yes. Demolition and removal of old paving and concrete can be included - even where access is tight. On our Hampton project the team removed a large sunken paved area by hand.
